They've been kind of "dipping their toe" in this for a while so I'm not surprised at all.
Google is an ad company, they've made almost all of their money on search and email, all with the added bonus of ads.
They also are really good at analytics.
It was never a question of if, but when.
I would suggest that tech savvy users migrate to something else.
I'll still have a chrome/google account, and use it for what I need, but this is a replay of IE in the 2000s.
But I bet this time, Google/Alphabet won't have anyone in the U.S. government break them up.
I could be wrong...but I just don't see it.
Seem the use of Firefox is about to increase...a lot.
