Weirdly a 70s rock band had their greatest track use synths.

From Merriam-Webster:

Eminence - noun

: a position of prominence or superiority

This is a great feeling song

The Who (Pete Townsend) are great

It seems to me that they highlighted the bad (dumb drum machine, bad beat, etc.) and then just launched into amazing synth.

The drums and guitar solidify the deal.

They know what they're doing. They've got this, and the opening is kind of a joke - "Here's what noobs would do with computer generated music - here's what we can do".

As someone else stated, this is one of the best tracks The Who ever did.

Pete looks like he's about to kill you, and the rest are fascinated by something (two things actually) else...

And in the background there's a kid playing an arcade video game.

I never really thought of The Who as great, but, this is pretty awesome.

This is such a weird track.

It starts with a really lame sampled drum and then expands into this amazing mix of syths and live guitars and drums.

Also - eminence: fame or recognized superiority, especially within a particular sphere or profession

I think it might be the best thing The Who ever did.

It's got "this should be in our movie" written all over it.

The build is so strong - the use of stereo alone is amazing, and starting from the dopey Casio like intro to a complex and layered level of keys, and then the drums hit with the guitar line - it's pretty great.
