Yeah I agree. I think the pinnacle was The Dark Knight. In that trilogy the other two were pretty bad.
I can't even tell any of the other superhero flicks apart and I absolutely hated Guardians of the Galaxy.
Hear, hear! I couldn't have said this better myself.
At this point, I think if you gave a sheet of paper and a pen to the average super hero fan they could write an outline that could be picked up by most of the major hollywood studios - but I don't think this is going to go away anytime soon(ish). The studios are too invested in their IP brands to let them go (Disney spent $4bn on Lucas Films and the rights to Starwars).
A fun guessing game is how long will it last? For Starwars I think they've mapped it out until something like 2020 of at least one film a year.

And in response to the headline I say, simply - "good".
I'm so sick of superhero movies and sequels. The basic plots of super hero movies do not change, neither do sequels from the originals.
If the latest MCU or sequel is something you really want to see, fine, but holy shit they've dumbed down the entire industry. Yes they'll make tons of $$$ but I'm willing to bet, at some point, maybe by the 15th Starwars flick, the general audience the industry relies on now (8-30 year old males) will even be sick of the SOS.
